Wexford and Auteuil

We have 6 runners flying the flag for us today. Five make their way down to the sunny south east of Wexford and we send Irish Point to Auteuil for Grade 1 action.

PALLAS ATHENE and DAY’S A DAWNING both line up for the first race of the day in Wexford the 2m 4f Mares Maiden Hurdle. PALLAS ATHENE has had plenty of experience and bids to get off the mark seventh time of asking over hurdles. She has been running to a respectable level, but needs to step up again if to get her head in front. Sam Ewing takes the ride. DAY’S A DAWNING returns to action after a break and makes her debut over hurdles. She has done well for her break and hopefully she can make a good account of herself, Jody McGarvey rides.

In Race 2 the 2m 4f mares handicap hurdle we have SIGNORA DI MILANO lining up. She also returns from a break and is one that has run well fresh in the past. It is her second start in handicap company and there is no doubt she is capable of better than what we seen of her the last day. Sam Ewing rides.

The 3m handicap hurdle we send out THEMANINTHEBOOTS. He registered back to back wins last summer and will step forward from his latest return to action after a break. He has his usual cheekpieces fitted and Sam Ewing rides him in the colours of the Kelly Family Syndicate.

MAGIC TRICKS lines up for the most valuable race on the card at Wexford. A highly rated sort over hurdles, he produced a good performance to get off the mark on his chasing debut at Down Royal. In deeper waters today he carries a 6lbs winners penalty, but appears to have his ideal conditions under foot. Jody McGarvey retains the partnership.

Lastly, IRISH POINT has made the journey all the way over to Auteuil in France to line up for the Grade 1 “Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil”. The multiple grade 1 winner steps back up to the extended 3m trip, which he proved himself over in Leopardstown at Christmas. He has travelled over and settled in extremely well and we are excited to see if he can register another Grade 1 success. Mark Walsh takes the ride.
