Punchestown Day 2

It was great to get a winner on the board yesterday with Shecouldbeanything in the opener. It looked like it would be a tough day for us so a winner means a lot!

Today we have eleven runners going to post and hopefully we can get another winner on the board. SAMS CHOICE and LEVEL NEVERENDING go forward for the big runner Adare Manor Opportunity final handicap over 2m3f. Level Neverending takes a little step back in class which could help him get back into the winners enclosure. Danny Gilligan has been booked to ride and claims 4lbs. Sams Choice hasn’t run up to his own standard on his last two starts and has a big enough weight to shoulder. He will be ridden by Corey McGivern who claims 4lbs.

For the Red Mills final we have THREE CARD BRAG who ran well in Cheltenham but maybe just didn’t quite get home. He has graded form and has beat a few of these before. There is a great prize up for grabs and Adrian Heskin has flown over to ride.

For the Louis Fitzgerald hotel hurdle we have IMAGINE who has been a solid performer all season and has form around this track. We have Danny Gilligan in the saddle who will be claiming 7lbs and that might prove very important in this tight contest. We also have PERFECT ATTITUDE in this who really comes alive at this time of year. He has a decent chance and will be ridden by Jordan Gainford.

The first Graded race of the afternoon is the Grade 1 Novice hurdle over 2m7f where we have FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU and SALVADOR ZIGGY. Favori De Champdou was pulled up the last day in Cheltenham which put an end to his winning streak. He is reunited with Jordan Gainford here again. Salvador Ziggy came so close to winning in Cheltenham when second in the Pertemps. That was a really solid performance and he has had a relatively light campaign this season, Mark Walsh rides.

For the feature race of the day we have FURY ROAD in the Punchestown Gold Cup. He was an early faller in the Grand National but came home safe and sound. The trip is no issue here and hopefully he can end his season on a high.

The rain has stayed away this week which hopefully means we can get KING OF KINGSFIELD and NO TIME TO WAIT out on track. King of Kingsfield has been denied a run on his last two occasions due to the ground and with it drying out that should hopefully suit us. He looks a really smart horse who just needs his ground, Harry Swan has been booked to ride. No Time To Wait ran a very good race in Cheltenham despite the form figure and has the potential to turn things around here. Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.

Next up is the Grade A handicap chase where we have ANDY DUFRESNE. He has come up stumps a few times this season but again the ground is starting to come his way and we have decided to claim off him with Danny Gilligan booked to take off 7lbs.

In the final race of the day we have MISS AGUSTA she ran well the last day in Listed company. She takes a step up in class but one she is well able for. She is somewhat proven around here as she chased home Absolut Notions last year in the Land Rover bumper. She will be ridden by Harry Swan
