Punchestown Day 2

It was great to get a winner on the board yesterday especially in the valuable Goffs Landrover bumper.

PURSE PRICE has been up and down in her form but that puts her on a nice mark for this final where there is great prize money on offer and we have Jack Kennedy booked to ride.

In the Louis Fitzgerald hurdle we have BINGE WORTHY and CLEATUS POOLAW. Cleatus was highly thought of earlier in the season and just lost his way a little bit but could be very well placed here with Jack Kennedy booked to ride. Binge Worthy can be hit and miss but is great for a last minute surprise. We claim with him with Danny Gilligan taking away 5lbs.

For the first Grade 1 on the card we have two Cheltenham winners BETTER DAYS AHEAD and STELLAR STORY. Better Days Ahead remains under Danny Gilligan who won’t get the use of his claim here and Stellar Story remains with Jack. It will be hard to split the two with the later preferring wetter conditions.

The champion bumper looks a proper race and we send forward ROMEO COOLIO and THE YELLOW CLAY. Romeo came very close in Cheltenham and has always been highly thought of. Harry Swan rides here and can’t use his claim. The Yellow Clay always puts in a good performance and is race hardened with Barry O’Neill booked to ride.

Today’s feature race of the day is The Gold Cup where CONFLATED will be our sole representative. He ran an absolute cracker in Aintree the last day and this looks like a thrilling renewl. Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride but he’ll need a career best here.

For the HSS Hire handicap chase we have THE GOFFER and EMBITTERED. The Goffer ran a cracker in the Grand National but just didn’t last home, Jack Kennedy will ride and hopefully time things to perfection. Embittered will need a career best here with Carl Millar booked and claiming 7lbs.

Finally rounding off the day in the mares bumper we have NEON DIAMOND and SPECULATRIX. The later ran a cracker in Aintree before getting tired but she more than needed the run that day an will be ridden by Harry Swan. Neo Diamond won in the mud in Limerick the last day so the ground is an unknown, she will be ridden by Barry O’neill.
