Listowel and Perth

It’s a busy day as we have runners down in Listowel and across the water in Scotland.

Down in Listowel our first runner is NEIGH BOTHA who is a new recruit for the yard and came to us as a winner of a musselburgh bumper. This a a hot race to start life off in but it will see where he stands. His dam is a half sister to Gold Cup winner Native River so we should see him progress with age. Davy Russell has been booked to ride.

For the novice hurdle we have just the one runner now as Ted Hastings is a non-runner. AMIR KABIR takes the lead of things here now and brings good form into the race. He was beaten in Galway but has been freshened up since then and faces that opponent here again. It looks a competitive race and we hope he and Davy can do well.

For the first handicap hurdle on the card we have NOBLE BIRTH who comes here off the back of a win. He has been in great form this season. We have decided to claim off him with crack ace Kieren Buckley who takes 5lbs off and already has a win on the board for us.

For the mares Novices chase we have MOTOWN MAGGIE. She is fast becoming a yard favourite for her tough attitude and has her first run over fences since tackling p2p tracks. She failed to win a point to point but has plenty of racing experience under her belt now. It’s a smaller field so she might be able to get a hand of things better and Davy Russell has been booked to ride.

For the feature race of the day we have Midlands National winner HURRICANE GEORGIE and Tullybeg awaits in the wings as second reserve. Hurricane Georgie unseated Jack Kennedy at the first in the Galway Plate when she winged the fence and landed quiet steeply. That would not have taken much out of her and she is usually an excellent jumper. Michael O’Sullivan takes the ride here and claims a very valuable 7lbs to help keep her in the mix. Tullybeg still waits for another horse to come out for his chance as he looks a stout stayer and suited to these big handicap chases.

Finally our last pair of runners down in Listowel are FOLCANO and PERFECT ATTITUDE. Folcano comes here off the back of his summer break so is fresh and ready. He was a point to point winner which can hopefully help him here in his first run over fences and Jordan Gainford is booked to ride. Perfect Attitude didn’t live up to his odds the last day but can hopefully use the experience he gained from that to good use here with Davy Russell booked to ride.

Our first runner in Perth is a HAPPY D’EX where she faces only three other runners in this Novices Hurdle. She should go well here based on her form as winners have come out of her last race already.

For the handicap chase we have two runners, QUANTUM REALM and GEVREY. Quantum is becoming a fan of things around here and was only narrowly beaten here the last day. He should go well here and has Sean Bowen booked to ride. Gevrey was below par the last day but he might be alble to turn that around here and James Bowen has been booked to ride.

Finally we have EXCELCIOR who has changed hands to a new owner who is local to Perth so it would be great to see him run a good race here. He has had a bit of a break to freshen up and Sean Bowen has been booked to ride.
