We have 11 runners heading to Limerick for day two of their two day October meeting.
We kick off the day with SPORTING GLORY in the second race of the day the “Garrynacurra Stud (C & G) Maiden Hurdle” over the extended 2 mile. He makes his debut for the yard having previously been a bumper winner and a very decent fourth in grade 2 novice company on his sole start over hurdles. Returning from a break, a reproduction of that previous form should see him capable of winning this kind of a race. Jack Kennedy has make the journey back across the Atlantic to take the ride.
In the feature of the day the “BoyleSports JT McNamara Munster National Handicap Chase” we have a big field of 7 taking their chance. FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU returns from a break. A grade 3 winner over course and distance as a novice when last seen, he will appreciate any rain that falls and has the benefit of Jack Kennedy in the saddle. THE GOFFER finished 8th in this race last year and has now dropped down to a career low mark over fences, he has Sam Ewing in the plate and on his best form he has every chance. BATTLEOVERDOYEN is one of the veterans of the field but one of few that come into this in winning form after running a cracker to secure his 6th win over fences in the Galway blazers. He has to defy an 8lb rise for that Galway win and has Danny Gilligan in the saddle. CHEMICAL ENERGY ran a cracker in the Galway Plate before pulling up on ground that was softer than ideal at Listowel. With cheek pieces on and Carl Millar claiming a valuable 7lbs, he will be hoping that there won’t be too much rain that falls. HURRICANE GEORGIE bids to record her 5th win over fences, she has been a fantastic servant for connections and ran better than her finishing position suggest at Listowel in the Kerry National. She has a great attitude and has the benefit of Jordan Gainford in the saddle. STUZZIKINI is first reserve and JUMPING JET is third reserve, fingers crossed they will get a run.
In the second last race of the day we have two runners taking their chance, MAGIC TRICKS and MARS HARPER. MARS HARPER has begun to drop down in the handicap, but he still has to shoulder top weight today. He drops back in trip and it would be no surprise if he can collect some prize money. Jack Kennedy rides. MAGIC TRICKS makes his second start in handicap company, a winner on his chasing debut, he has been a little below par on his last two runs, he steps up an extra couple of furlongs and has blinkers fitted. Mark Walsh rides.
In the last race of the day FARREN GLORY makes his chasing debut. He returns from a break and brings a very high level of form over hurdles to the table here. He has been schooling very well at home and has the benefit of point to point experience. Hopefully he can make a good start to the new season. Jack Kennedy rides.
