Leopardstown Day 1

It’s a big day for more than one reason, not only is it the boss’s birthday we’re also starting to get down to the nitty gritty of the Cheltenham build up!

In the opening race we have HONESTY POLICY in this small field. It was great to see him get his head in front the last day and could go well here but will have penalties to bear. Sam Ewing is in the saddle.

PIED PIPER goes in the QuinnBet hurdle. This looks a strong race where PP comes fresh. The drying ground should be to his liking and it would be great to see him back to his best. Sam Ewing rides.

We have a new recruit for the handicap hurdle over 2m in the shape of CHER TARA. She is a nice mare who goes well and we claim off her with Jake Coen. This will be a very informative race for us to she how she goes.

We double up in the listed handicap chase with MARS HARPER and SO DES FLOS. Mars goes well in big field handicaps but his form of late has let him down a little. He has a nice mark for this and is the pick of Sam Ewing. So Des Flos bounces back quickly to this so will have fitness on his side. He has plenty to do but hopefully the ground will play to his strengths.

WINE AN DINE goes forward for the Dublin National Handicap chase where he fits into the middle of the pack in terms of weights. He has showed he can go well in this sort of race so hopefully Sam can get the best out of him.

In the bumper we have last time out winner ETERNAL ECHO. He will have a penalty for that win but looked a very useful type that day. Hopefully he can improve again and make a second visit to the winners enclosure under Harry Swan.
