Killarney Day 1

We kick off a 3 day meeting in the picturesque Killarney with 11 runners today.

HEROES RISE is a non runner in the first race.

JOCKER DU MOULIN makes his second start over hurdles for us in the 2m1f maiden hurdle. He finished mid field on his debut at Fairyhouse in heavy conditions and has certainly come on for that run. We’re hoping he’ll appreciate the drier ground conditions here today and Jordan Gainford has been booked to ride.

We saddle two runners in the mares listed hurdle. SHECOULDBEANYTHING won this contest last year before going on to win a valuable handicap back at Killarney later in the summer. She does carry a penalty here today but the track suits her and she should show a good account of herself with Jordan Gainford in the saddle. ROYAL EAGLE also holds a strong chance in todays contest. She was progressive in handicaps last summer and will have come on for her seasonal return to action at Punchestown last week. Danny Gilligan rides.

We send tow down to post in the 2m1f handicap hurdle. SET POINT will certainly have come on for his run in Punchestown last week. He should appreciate the better ground here today and hold strong each way claims with Danny Gilligan in the plate. BY YOUR SIDE finished second in two big handicaps throughout the winter and hasn’t disgraced himself in some very hot contests. If the ground hasn’t gone too quick for him then he should run well again here today with Jake Coen.

DUFFLE COAT competes in a five runner field in the novice chase. A smart juvenile hurdler, he has taken extremely well to chasing with 4 seconds from five runs over the larger obstacles. He showed an excellent account of himself last time out to finish 4th at Punchestown in a competitive handicap chase. He steps back up in trip here today and should go close with Danny Gilligan in the saddle claiming a useful 3lb.

SEA ASTER represents us in the mares beginners chase. She was well held on her chasing debut at Wexford last month but is open to plenty of improvement. Jordan Gainford rides.

We saddle 3 runners in the Killarney National. JUMPING JET keeps the partnership with Carl Millar after the pair won the Ulster National at Downpatrick last time out. She runs off a 7lb higher mark this time out but should still show a good account of herself. CAVALRY MASTER was only just denied victory in a veterans chase in Wexford last time out over 2m3f but he doesn’t have the best form over the longer trip this season. He’ll need to improve to feature here today. Jordan Gainford rides. THE ABBEY sits at the bottom of the weights here today. He’s put in some solid efforts over longer distance races and should show up well here with Danny Gilligan riding.

Our final runner of the day is SPINOLA BAY in the bumper. He failed to make an impression on his racecourse debut in the Tattersalls Sales Bumper at Fairyhouse in March but the better ground should play to his strengths today and he has also come on for the experience. Harry Swan rides.
