It’s the big day as we head into Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse and we have 2 runners down in Cork
We start the with 2 runners in the novice handicap hurdle with WACKESTONE and COMBS. Both of these horses have very similar profiles where Wackestone is ever so slightly fresher and is the pick of Jack Kennedy. Danny has already had a big priced winner for connections this weekend and could do the same again here.
We have two in the 0-140 handicap hurdle in the shape of TIMELESS TREATY and KOVANIS. Timeless Treaty has been running very well and we claim off him with Josh Williamson taking 5lbs off. Kovanis is a bit of a dark horse in this as he drops back in class and is ridden by Jack Kennedy.
For the Grade 2 2m4f we have three runners, THE YELLOW CLAY, BOWENSONFIRE and FARREN GLORY. The Yellow Clay was running a great race the last day in Cheltenham before falling. Jack takes the ride. Bowensonfire has sky-rocketed up the handicap this season and is the pick of Jordan Gainford. Farren Glory didn’t get his ground in Cheltenham and will be ridden by Danny Gilligan here.
For the Grade 2 chase its us vs Willie! FOUND A FIFTY, DOWN MEMORY LANE and SA FUREUR our the Cullentra representatives here. Things were too hot for Found a Fifty the last day and he was rightly pulled up but this drop in class should suit with Jack Kennedy booked to ride. Down Memory Lane wasn’t suited by the ground in Cheltenham also and will be ridden by Mark Walsh. Finally Sa Fureur on ratings has every right to be here but will need a bit of luck in running with Danny Gilligan booked to ride.
For the feature race of the day we have 6 runners in the Irish National. BETTER DAYS AHEAD is top weight and will have a big task on his hands. We have claimed with one of the most experienced claimers in the game with Rob James taking away 7lbs. SEARCH FOR GLORY was very unlucky the last day in Cheltenham when he unseated while coming with a strong run. James Smith maintains the ride and claims 5lbs. Shecouldbeanything always runs her race and she ran a cracker in this last year and is the pick of Jack Kennedy. Kurasso Blue has first time cheekpieces here on here. He is another who didn’t enjoy Cheltenham but he is a stout stayer and will be ridden by Jordan Gainford. The Enabler looks built for this and has a great mark for this with Danny Gilligan booked to ride. Duffle Coat already has a Mayo National to his name and we claim off him with Josh Williamson.
We have 3 runners in the Irish National consolation race in the shape of PRENDS GARDE A TOI, WILL DO and PATTER MERCHANT. Prends Garde a toi can be a bit hit and miss but has a nice mark in this and has Jack Kennedy booked to ride. Will Do has a very similar profile and we will be claiming off him with Josh Williamson taking away 5lbs. Patter Merchant rounds off the team and could be a dark horse in this with Danny Gilligan in the saddle.
Finally in the bumper we have just CHARISMATIC KID. He placed in the Leopardstown Grade 2 bumper and was a non-runner in Cheltenham. The ease in the ground should suit him and he has Harry Swan booked to ride.
We have a small team in Cork where NOPRESENTLIKETIME goes in the 2m7.5f maiden hurdle. He ran well in Ayr on his penultimate run and this looks a wide open race with Jake Coen booked to ride.
TINTARA is our other runner down in Cork in the bumper. This is her first start for the yard and we have Joey Dunne claiming 7lbs.
