We’re back in Gowran Park for the second day of their 2 day meeting and we send out 8 runners.
We saddle two in the opener, the listed hurdle. EL CAIROS is back in action after finishing 7th in the Galway hurdle back in July. His run was much better than the placings suggested that day and he should be one of the leading market contenders here under Jack Kennedy. SAMUI is a consistent horse for connections. Second over 3 miles two starts back, his next run maybe came a shade too quickly for him. With proven form over 2 miles, he looks to be a versatile type and has strong each way claims under Danny Gilligan.
MINO DES MOTTES runs in the Grade 3 novice hurdle. He hasn’t finished out of the placing in his 4 starts for us so far this season but beaten 8 lengths by Witches Familiar in Galway and it might be a tough ask for him to reverse that form. He does wear first time cheekpieces today and shouldn’t be too far away under Jack Kennedy.
MODOR reverts back to hurdles as he contests the 3 mile handicap hurdle. His most recent effort over flights saw him finish 3rd in a 3 mile handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan back in May and he has been running on the flat since then. He has the potential to put in a big run under Paddy Cleary today.
In the feature race, the Grade 2 PWC Danoli Chase, we send out EMILY LOVE. A winner of a mares beginners chase back in May, she was a useful hurdler last season and although she might be slightly out of her depth here, anything can happen in a 4 runner race. Sam Ewing rides.
BOWENSONFIRE has his third start over fences in the Grade 3 novice chase. Placed on both efforts over fences to date, he proved himself as a highly rated hurdler off a mark of 147 and has the potential to shape up into a smart novice chaser. Jack Kennedy rides.
In the rated novice chase we run MA JACKS HILL. The point to point winner has the benefit of 5 runs under his belt, including a win over 2m4f and should appreciate the step up in trip to 3 miles today. He holds strong each way claims under Kevin Healy who claims a useful 7lb.
Our final runner of the day is LEMMY CAUTION in the beginners chase. A previous point to point winner, he was well held on chasing debut over 2m7f last time out so has the blinkers back on today to try and sharpen him up as he drops back in trip to 2m4f. Jack Kennedy rides.
