CULLENTRA HOUSE STABLES

Cullentra House stables is located two miles from the village of Longwood and just a couple of minutes from Enfield and the M4 motorway. Situated on 78 acres of grassland it is both private and peaceful yet close to direct transport links, we are under an hour away from both Dublin Airport and Dublin Port.

All of our facilities have been purpose built so are of the highest quality and have been designed to maximise efficiency and productivity. The stables have been constructed with an emphasis on ventilation to promote health and comfort for the horses and all of our stables are light, airy and of a comfortable size. We now have capacity for over 200 horses including a separate isolation unit of 6 stables as well as outdoor woodchip paddocks which are beneficial to horses with respiratory issues.

Our Facilities

We have four purpose built gallops; A 3 furlong warm up circular gallop surfaced with Wexford sand, a 4 furlong circular Wexford sand gallop adjoining a 3 ½ furlong Wexford sand gallop on an incline and a separate 6 furlong sand and fibre gallop situated on an incline. The horses use the hill gallops for their faster work. In addition to the gallops there is an all-weather schooling strip with Easyfix hurdles and fences, a 1 ½ furlong schooling ring inside our circular gallop, a fully enclosed schooling ring which is perfect for educating our younger horses, a menage and also schooling fences and hurdles on grass.

GALLOPS

After exercise the horses walk home through a natural stream to cool down and relieve their muscles. They are then washed down in one of our multiple wash bays followed by a cool down in one of our 7 walkers.

NATURAL STREAM

We have a custom built equine swimming pool which supplements the horses training programme. It is also fantastic for horses returning from leg injuries as it reduces the stress on their muscles. Research shows that swimming can improve muscle recovery rates and also increases metabolism, blood flow and oxygen rates. We have also invested in an Equine Vibro Floor. The vibration plate provides excellent therapy to joints, ligaments and tendons by alleviating pain and inflammation, relieving sore and straining muscles, decreasing body toxins and increasing muscle mass, bone density and energy levels.

EQUINE SWIMMING POOL

Gordon strongly believes in a balanced feeding regime which has led to us having a dedicated member of staff in charge of all the feeding and supplements. The horses also have access to multiple grass and woodchip paddocks which is particularly beneficial to horses with respiratory problems.
