We have four runners making their way up to Downpatrick today for what is Downpatrick’s second las meeting of the year.
OMNISCIENT is our first runner of the day in the opening maiden hurdle over 2m 1f, a relatively consistent type, he has bumped into some decent types in the past, he returns from a little break and with a rating of 118 and experience to hand, hopefully he can have a big shout today with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.
Our next runner in the fourth race the 2m 5f Novice Hurdle is BOSTON JURY. He comes here off the back of a win on his third start, which came at Down Royal three weeks ago. He is learning with every run, trip and ground should suit and he gets weight off some of his older rivals today. Jack Kennedy is in the saddle and hopefully he can make it back to back wins.
SOMEONE’S WISH lines up in the 4.30pm, the beginners chase. This is his debut over the larger obstacles and having run well on a few occasions over hurdles, especially at this venue before, we hope this can bring out some more improvement. He is in great form at home and it would be fantastic for his owners the Call It What You Like Syndicate if he can out in a good display.
Our last runner of the day is REDDYS ISLAND in the extended 2m 7f Handicap Chase. She made her seasonal debut at Galway the last day over hurdles, where she had excuses for a below par effort. Back over fences today and previously 2nd over course and distance last year, we would hope she will be more than capable of getting involved at the business end of things, Sam Ewing is in the saddle.
