CHELTENHAM DAY 1

The festival is finally here and it looks like a wet start to proceedings which should favour the Irish runners.

FIREFOX goes in the Supreme where it might be a battle from the front and in testing conditions. He is a lovely big horse who has a very bright future ahead of him. Conditions should suit and Jack Kennedy is onboard.

FOUND A FIFTY is a loveable rogue who should like an ease in the ground and has form with a lot of these horses. It won’t be plain sailing but hopefully he can get in the frame. Jack rides.

The first handicap of the week and we have three runners. This one usually goes to the home team but we hope to cause an upset. THE GOFFER, MINELLA CROONER and RUN WILD FRED all go to post here with the later being outsiders. The goffer could sneak into the frame and ran well here last year and has garnered some each way support.

The champion Hurdle could be anyone’s game. IRISH POINT will want the rain to keep falling as it will turn the race into more of a stamina test. He has form over this trip and at Grade 1 company and Jack rides.

The Boodles looks a hard one to pick a winner in as usual, NDAAWI looks a nice horse who was treated harshly by the handicapper but is Jack’s pick. Mordor could sneak a place at a big price and we claim off him with Danny Gilligan taking away 3lbs.’

In the National Hunt chase we have SALVADOR ZIGGY. He will have preferred the rain to stay away but this looks a very open race with a small field. We have Rob James in the saddle.
