Punchestown Day 3

It was incredible to get another Grade 1 yesterday, matching our career best for a season with 13. For day three we start off with IMMEDIATE EFFECT in the novice hurdle over 2m. This horse won on debut for us and was thrown into Grade 1 level after that. This will be a bit of a drop in class for him but he’ll have to be at his best to win with Jack Kennedy booked to ride.

The cross country races are always exciting and we have THE GOFFER for this banks race. He has been a reliable sort in these races and is a buck to jump. There are some specialists in this and hopefully he can go well with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.

There is a big field in the 2m7f handicap hurdle. MINELLA SIXO is on the high side in this handicap but has the ability to win a race like this. He will be ridden by Jack Kennedy. BALLYBOW hasn’t quite managed to land a blow this season but is on a lovely mark for this with Danny booked to ride.

We have a pair of Robcour horses for the Listed handicap chase. RELIEVED OF DUTIES didn’t like the ground in the Grand Annual the last day but has been freshened up and has Jack in the saddle. Golden Joy was balloted out of Cheltenham so is the fresher of the pair. He can be a bit unpredictable and will have Danny in the saddle.

For the first Grade 1 on the card we have just the one representative in the shape of JACOB’S LADDER. He has had a busy season but has stepped up to the mark. He ran very well in Fairyhouse the last day and will be ridden by Jack Kennedy.

The feature race of the day is the Stayers hurdle where we have TEAHUPOO and HONESTY POLICY. Teahupoo has first time blinkers on as he defends his stayers hurdle crown. In the past he was very ground dependent but has managed to compete on many different types of ground now and will be the ride of Jack Kennedy. Honesty Policy has been quite able to light up this season but he has been in great form and can hopefully go well with Harry Cobden booked to ride.

Finally in the bumper we have two runners BON BON FIZZ and SOUL ASYLUM. Bon Bon Fizz is a new recruit and was a good winner the last day in Thurles. Josh Halford is fresh from Grade 1 glory and takes the ride. Soul Asylum looks a lovely horse for the future and anything he does here will do a bonus and has Harry Swan in the saddle.
