We return to normality after the Cheltenham festival where or sights turn back to the Irish championship. GOOD SHOW will be our only representative in the maiden hurdle. He has a run under his belt and has been given a chance to acclimatize to proceedings with Carl Millar claiming 5lbs.
NEEDS MUST was a good winner of his maiden hurdle and we try to qualify him for the Albert Bartlett series in Punchestown. He fits well into this field and will be ridden by Jack Kennedy.
In division I of the handicap hurdle we have COPPOLA who has his first start for the yard. He has a low mark and has showed some good form in the past where Jack Kennedy is booked to ride.
For division II we have BUTTON ROCK who again has a nice mark in this. It looks a competitive field where we can hopefully go well on handicap debut under Jack Kennedy.
GERRI COLOMBE takes a step back in class for the Bluegrass racehorse cube chase. He was a really good 2nd the last day in a Grade 3 over fences and this could be a really good confidence boost for him. It’s a competitive field for the class and could be a very interesting race.
We’re double handed in the rated novice chase with LUCKY LYREEN and SLANAGAIBHGOLEIR. Lucky Lyreen found things difficult the last day in Punchestown so a drop back in class should help him with Jack Kennedy booked to ride. Slanagaibhgoleir has really stepped up this season and will be the mount of Carl Millar claiming 5lbs.
Our last runner in Down Royal will be LIZZY TWIG in the mares bumper. She is a daughter of Poets word has has been going well at home. She has a few flat performers in her pedigree and the 7lbs claim from Josh Halford should go a long way.
Over in Wexford we have two runners. KING OF WESTEROS has been a hard one to work out but maintains his maiden tag and should improve for his runs with Danny Gilligan booked to ride.
Rounding off the day we have COQ NOIR in the bumper. This horse was a winner of his point to point and looks a nice horse for the future. This is a very competitive bumper on proper conditions where we have Harry Swan in the saddle.
