Gowran park goes ahead today having passed an 8am inspection due to frost. The opener will be a busy one for us as we have three go to post; MANOIR DE MIRANDE, WOLFPACK and YOUKNOWTHECODE. Manoir has been a little bit disappointing in his last few runs but it might just be taking longer for the penny to drop. He is the pick of Jack Kennedy. Youknowthecode is having his first start on the track so today will be very informative, Jordan Gainford has been booked to ride. Finally we have Wolfpack who has been a bit unlucky to date and can hopefully get a good run on the board with Kevin Sexton in the saddle.
FARREN GLORY ran a cracker the last day having returned from a long lay off. He should have a degree of improvement about him here with a drop in grade. The ground could be a concern for him but hopefully he will be able to overcome it with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.
We have two runners in the Grade 3 novice hurdle in the shape of BALLY FREE and LORD ROUGE. Bally Free has the addition of a first time cheek pieces to try and take his for to the next level. Lord Rouge also has first time head gear in the shape of a hood. He ran well on debut for us and we look to regain that form with Danny booked to ride.
GRIMAUD attempts to get his qualification for the Albert Bartlett series in Punchestown in May. He took a fall the last day but is hovering around a decent mark now. We claim off him with Josh Williamson.
For the feature race of the day we have SA FUREUR. With a high mark it has been hard to place this horse but the small field here should give him every chance. He has been in good form so far this season and thankfully doesn’t have a penalty for this race and will be ridden by Jack Kennedy.
BALLYBOW has first time blinkers on to sharpen him up for his 4th start over fences. He may find a bit more favour in handicaps but hopefully we can see an improvement in him today under Jack.
Finally in the handicap chase we have SLANAGAIBHGOLEIR. This horse showed a brilliant bit of improvement the last day to strike a surprising win. He has been given the chance to freshen up and could have every chance here with Carl Millar in the saddle claiming 5lbs.
