Stephen’s Day Racing

It is an insanely busy day as we have runners in Leopardstown, Limerick and Down Royal.

In the TRI maiden we have BALLYFAD who is so far unbeaten in bumpers and point to points. He tries his hand over hurdles and looks a really smart horse with a bit of speed. Jack Kennedy has chosen to ride him. PLAYTIME has is first start over hurdles and is a recruit from the flat, Kevin Sexton has been booked to ride. STRAIGHT JOHN has his first start and we will see what he is made of with Jake Coen booked to ride.

Next up we have EL CAIROS who looks a very exciting recruit so hopefully we can find the best out of him with Jack Kennedy booked to ride.

The first Graded race is the Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle where we have BARBIZON. He looks a really smart horse who could go anywhere and hopefully its the very top with Jack in the saddle.

A winner last time out SPINOLA BAY goes in the novice handicap hurdle. There has been a bit of money for him over night and he is off a really nice weight here. Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.

In the first of the Grade 1 contests we have ROMEO COOLIO for the Racing Post Novice Chase. He was poetry in motion when scoring the Drinmore but nothing is guaranteed. This will be a solid competition where Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.

We have just the one in the Racing Post handicap chase over 2m1f; GOLDEN JOY. This horse is also having his first start of the season here but may need the run to see the best of him. JAck Kennedy has been booked to ride.

Finally in Leopardstown we have PREMIER DIVISION in the bumper. This horse ran very well on debut to come home 3rd and there looks to be plenty of improvement in him and we have Harry Swan back in the saddle.

Next we go up to DOWN ROYAL where we have three runners in the opening maiden hurdle over 2m4f. ALBUS is a newcomer to the yard but is the half sibling to a bumper winner. This is an open race where he can hopefully learn his trade and he will have Jordan Gainford in the saddle. SEPT ETOILES has a run under his belt which should serve him very well and is the pick of Sam Ewing for local owners. Finally DUNSY ROCK also represents local owners and will be ridden by Paddy Cleary who claims 7lbs.

For the Auction Maiden hurdle we have DUNLEER CRYSTAL who finds himself in quite a small runner maiden. Based on his runs to date he may be better suited to handicaps, however if the opportunity arises he may strike with Finn Brickley booked to ride.

In the Beginners Chase we have CLODDERS DREAM, SLANAGAIBHGOLEIR and SWING DAVIS. Slanagaibhgoleir has looked better since making the switch to chasing and could be open to further improvement with Jordan Gainford booked to ride. SWING DAVIS returns after her summer holiday and gets a mares allowance in this. She looks a smart mare and has Sam Ewing in the saddle. Clodders Dream needs to improve to feature and will be ridden by Carl Millar who claims 5lbs.

We have two nice horses going forward in the Hunters Chase in the shape of THE GOFFER and WILLITGOAHEAD. The Goffer hasn’t put a foot wrong really this season and has got into the swing of these races, he’ll be ridden by Alan O’Sullivan who claims 7lbs. Willitgoahead was third in the Cheltenham Foxhunters last season and was a class act in this sphere. Hopefully his star can continue to rise and he will be ridden by Josh Williamson who claims 5lbs.

Finally in the bumper we have LOCH CUAN and MASTER HAKU. Master Haku is creeping up the placings and getting ever closer to 1st. He will be ridden by Josh Williamson who claims 5lbs. Loch Cuan is having his first start under rules and has a nice jockey booking in the shape of Barry O’Neill. Fingers crossed he can go well.

Our final meeting of the day is LIMERICK where we start off with MODE AVION in the 3yo maiden hurdle. This looks a very hot race where the two Gigginstown horses will be to the fore. Hopefully Danny can get a good tune out of our charge.

RAVENDARK made a nice start to things the last day. He needs a bit of time but you wouldn’t write him off of getting into the frame here with Danny booked to ride.

In the Grade 2 Novice hurdle we have KAZANSKY and SANTO SOSPIR. Kazansky got the job done the last day in a big runner maiden hurdle and takes the step up here with Danny booked to ride. Santo Sospir is another who won his maiden the last day and takes a step forward with Alex Harvey booked to ride.

MAGIC BOUM returns to the track after a lay off and could be best watched here. Hopefully she’ll have a good run to help her get her season started with Danny Gilligan booked to ride.

For the handicap chase we have TRUCKERS CRUISING taking on Irish runners. He is a wonderful jumper and was very unlucky the last day. This looks quite competitive compared to his most recent bouts but hopefully he can go well.

Finally we have TORPILLE DAGROSTIS in the mares bumper. She has had some nice form and today could be her best chance of landing a killer blow. Josh Halford has been booked to ride and he claims 7lbs.
