It is a very busy day as we exit the weekend with a double meeting where we will have 6 heading to Wexford and 7 heading to Leopardstown.
THEGINGRIN is our first runner in Wexford and she heads for the mares maiden hurdle over 2m. This filly was a bit disappointing on debut in a bumper at Christmas so she will now be tried over hurdles. This doesn’t look the deepest maiden ever and hopefully her point to point win will stand to her, Sam Ewing is booked to ride.
Next up is new recruit ASHTON COURT who is still a maiden. He goes in the novices handicap hurdle over 2 miles and hopefully we will be able to find some improvement in him with Sam Ewing in the saddle.
BRITZKA heads the field in the Michael O’Murchadha memorial hurdle over two miles. This will be his first run after a break and he seems all the better for it. He is a very talented horse on his day and Sam Ewing is booked to ride.
We double up in the beginners chase over 3m1f with WHAT AN OCEAN and WHERE IT ALL BEGAN. Where it all began seems to have lost his way a little bit after looking very promising. He looks like a classic chaser and Adiran Heskin has come over to ride. What an Ocean has her experience on the point field so is well able to jump a fence. This might be a tough task for her and she will be ridden by Sam.
Rounding off the Wexford crew is SMOKEY PUTNUM. He and Josh Williamson are well acquainted at this stage and reunite here. This is a hard bumper to pick out the winner and is potentially wide open. It would be great to see the pair finish in the frame.
Over to Leopardstown we have FILS D’OUDAIRIES for the Anton O’Toole Hurdle who looks well in on ratings and kindly treated thanks to the conditions. Davy Russell has been booked to ride.
PRESENT SOLDIER returns to the track after finishing 4th on debut in a good maiden hurdle. This looks wide open and he has the potential to improve and he will have Davy Russell in the saddle.
JUMPING JET ran well the last day but just didn’t get home in the end so we have switched her back in distance. This will be the first race on the card for Jordan Gainford.
For the mares handicap hurdle we have COUNTRY QUEEN who returns after having pulled up last time out. We are going to claim off her with Corey McGivern taking away 7lbs.
IRISH BLAZE goes in the rated Novices chase and he should be well suited by the smaller field. He was unlucky not to maintain his partnership the last day but is non the worse after that blip. Jordan Gainford has been booked to ride.
There is a big pot on offer in the Grade B handicap chase over 2m5f where MARS HARPER looks well treated. He isn’t miles out of this and hopefully with Jordan in the saddle he can go well.
Wrapping up the day in Leopardstown is a Bective Stud homebred in the shape of THE YELLOW CLAY. This horse has been going well at home and hopefully finish in the frame. He has a pedigree where he should improve with age and Jamie Codd has been booked for his maiden voyage.
