Puchestown & Kelso runners

It’s a busy day for the team as we head back to Punchestown with 14 runners and across the water to Kelso with 2 runners.

Our first runners in Punchestown are in the mares maiden hurdle where we send 3 down to post. RETURN TO BASE showed promise on her debut in Kilbeggan last year and should be capable of running into the placings. Jack Kennedy rides. COUNTRY QUEEN and DELTA LODGE are both making their racecourse debuts. They both go nicely at home and will certainly come on for the run. Ricky Doyle partners Country Queen and Corey McGivern rides Delta Lodge.

We saddle 4 runners in the maiden hurdle. SALVADOR ZIGGY is a new recruit to the yard having joined us from James Fahey. He was a bumper winner in Listowel back in September and has already had two starts over hurdles. He’s the pick of Jack Kennedy and should go close. FOOTY’S BRIDGE was disappointing in his point to point starts and finished mid field in his sole bumper start. We’re hoping the switch to hurdles will bring out the best in him and Shane Fitzgerald is booked to ride. KEEPTHEFAITHINME showed promise in his bumper runs but is yet to prove himself over hurdles. He is fresh from a break and Cian Chester rides and claims 7lb. WESTCOASTINFORMANT has just had the one bumper start to date where he was seen finishing 9th of 23 runners at the Punchestown Festival. He will have come on for the experience and should take well to his hurdles today. Niall Moore rides and claims 7lb.

In the Ladies handicap hurdle we run GLENS FINALE and TOWNHILL PENNY. Glens Finale is having his first run since March 2021. A bumper winner on his racecourse debut, he is yet to follow this up over hurdles but this is his first start in handicap company and we are hoping for a good run from him under Georgie Benson. Townhill Penny is having her second start in handicap company. She’s fresh from a break and has first time cheekpieces on. Rochelle Murphy is in the saddle.

In the 3mile handicap hurdle we run HUMBLE GLORY. She just never got into the race at Punchestown so we’re going to put a line through that. She has proven that she stays on well over a longer trip so should go well here today. Jack Kennedy rides.

We run DUNBOYNE and TULLYBEG in the beginners chase. Dunboyne was a point to point winner on his 4th start between the flags. He’s a big solid horse who looks made to go chasing and will also appreciate the longer trip. Keith Donoghue rides. Tullybeg fell on his chasing debut which seemed to knock his confidence. We switched him back to hurdles where he has won twice since. He is jumping much better at home now and should go well under Jack Kennedy.

OLD TOWN GARDE has his first run in handicap chase company today. He ran well in a hot novice contest at Killarney and looks in with a shout off a nice mark. Jack Kennedy rides.

Our last runner in Punchestown is LIVING ON LOVE who makes her racecourse debut in the mares bumper. There are plenty of runners in this race who have good form to their name but our mare has been going well at home and will certainly come on for the experience. Harry Swan rides and claims 7lb.

Over in Kelso TED HASTINGS is our first runner of the day in the novice hurdle. He was an impressive winner of his maiden hurdle last time out at Ayr and should finish in the placings again here. Sean Bowen rides.

COME ON DU BERLAIS ran a nice race to finish second on her racecourse debut at Ayr last time out and will have come on plenty for that experience. She should go close again today in this mares only bumper. Sean Bowen rides.
