LISTOWEL HARVEST FESTIVAL DAY 5

We have 7 runners today, with 6 heading down to Listowel for day 5 of the harvest festival and 1 traveling across the water to Newmarket.

We kick off the day with MEXICAN MOONSHINE in the opening “Buckley Agri New Holland Irish EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle”. She made a fine impression on her debut just being denied by a more experience type. She has come out of her race really well and will have learned plenty for that experience. Jack Kennedy rides.

In the fifth race of the day the 2m4f Handicap Hurdle both BIG STAGE and WUDYA line up. BIG STAGE returns after a break and steps into handicap company for the first time today. A good winner when last seen, he has an unexposed profile and will hopefully be capable of getting involved. Jack Kennedy rides. WUDYA steps back in trips for her second start in handicap company. She has her usual cheekpieces fitted and has Sam Ewing in the saddle for her first visit to Listowel.

YEATS STAR and STUZZIKINI both line up in the 2m 6f beginners chase. YEATS STAR has been highly progressive over hurdles and may well have needed his comeback run at Bellewstown the last day. He makes his debut over fences today and he may well come into his own over fences. STUZZIKINI on the other hand makes his 6th start over fences and has been running well in defeat. He has his usual cheekpieces on today and with Sam Ewing is back on board today, hopefully his experience will stand to him today.

In the final race at Listowel the 2m bumper WILLIAM BUTLER makes his racecourse debut in the colours of John Doyle. A 4 year old by Yeats, his dam “Derriana Spirit” was a bumper and a dual winner over hurdles herself and hopefully he can follow in her footsteps. He has Harry Swan in the saddle taking 3lbs off his back.

SAMUI heads over to Newmarket for the 2m “Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes”. He has been really progressive on the level, runner up at York in top class handicap and placed in Listed company at Chester last time. He takes on 6 rivals today, drawn in stall 5, he has Jamie Spencer back on board and we be hoping he can run a big race on a track that should suit him.
