LISTOWEL HARVEST FESTIVAL DAY 4

It Guinness Kerry National Day at the Harvest festival and we have 9 runners who make the journey down to Listowel for day 4 of the great festival.

THE MEDIATOR is our first runner of the day in the opening maiden hurdle. He has blinkers back on today after jumping better with them fitted for his last start at Galway. He has lots of experience and has been relatively consistent over jumps and on the level. With an official rating of 115 and going left handed today, you would like to think that he will be a major contender. Jack kennedy is in the saddle.

In the 3.45pm the “Devon Inn Dan Sheehan Memorial Handicap Hurdle” over 3m, we have BEAUFORT SCALE and KILKEE BAY representing Cullentra House Stables. BEAUFORT SCALE steps into handicap company for the first time on what is his fourth run over hurdles. He has an unexposed profile, is proven at this trip and has the assistance of Jack Kennedy on board. Hopefully he can do put in a bold show today. KILKEE BAY makes his second start in handicap company, he has the addition of first time cheekpieces and steps up in trip for the first time today. He has Sam Ewing in the saddle and with a light weight on his back, hopefully he can step forward.

Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase takes place at 4.20pm and we have 5 runners going to post. ZANAHIYR ran a cracker in the Galway plate to be only beaten one length, gone up 4lbs since that run, he comes here in really good form and a repeat of that performance should see him go close, he is the mount of Jack Kennedy. DUFFLE COAT has had a fantastic season winning the Mayo National and runner up in the Galway Plate. He is a really tough sort and will be suited by the trip and ground, Danny Gilligan knows him well and he is back in the saddle. CHEMICAL ENERGY is fitted with first time cheekpieces today. He ran well in this race last year on ground softer than ideal and has always shaped as if he can land a big pot like this, he has Jordan Gainford on board today. THE GOFFER  returns after a break and has run very well fresh in the past, he is another who ran well in this last year and has acquitted himself well in big handicaps in the past. He has Sam Ewing in the saddle and hopefully he can finish in the money. HURRICANE GEORGIE creeps in down the bottom of the weights, she has been a great servant for connections and comes her off the back of a really good success in Galway, Kevin Sexton take over the reins today.

SHECOULDBEANYTHING is our final runner of the day and lines up in the penultimate race of the day the “Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa Mares Novice Chase”. She ran a cracker on her debut over fences at Galway last time, looking like a natural over the larger obstacles. Up against previous winners over fences she has a 7lb allowance for being a maiden over fences. A winner at this track here in June, she is ground versatile and with the assistance of Jack Kennedy she should go very close.
