Listowel Day 4

Its Kerry National Day and we head down to Listowel with 9 runners including 6 in the feature race.

Unfortunately due to the ground, WISTERIA BLOOM is a non runner in the first race.

THE WALLPARK completes a field of seven in the Seamus Mulvaney Bookmaker Novice Hurdle. He has shown plenty of improvement since joining the yard and did the job well when getting off the mark over hurdles last time out. Jack Kennedy rides.

FOXFIRE GLOW bids to make it a hat-trick over hurdles in the Devon Inn Hotel Handicap Hurdle. This is his first time in handicap company and he should appreciate the step up in trip to 3 miles. Mark Walsh will be in the saddle.

In the feature race, the Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase, we run six. ASH TREE MEADOW was an impressive winner of this years Galway Plate under a front running ride by Danny Gilligan. The partnership stay intact here today using Danny’s 5lb claim off top weight of 11st 12lb. CHEMICAL ENERGY makes his seasonal reappearance. He was second at the Cheltenham Festival but just failed to make an impression in the Irish Grand National after a bad error. He’s fresh from his summer break and does always run well fresh. Jordan Gainford rides. GEVREY has been really consistent for his connections. He was 2nd in the Irish Grand National at the back end of last season and finished 3rd in August when making the switch back to hurdles. He’s fresh and well in himself and should go well under Brian Hayes. HURRICANE GEORGIE is another who has been freshened up for this race. She stayed on to finish 9th in the Galway Plate and was 4th in the Midlands National the run before that. She could run a big race under Michael O’Sullivan. SALVADOR ZIGGY has done no wrong since making the switch to fences this season. He is currently 3 from 3 in this sphere and will be having his first run in handicap company today. Jack Kennedy rides. THE GOFFER has plenty of form in handicap company but just failed to quite see out his race last time out in the Galway Plate. He wears a tongue tie for the first time today and Kieran Buckley will be in the saddle. TULLYBEG is now a non runner due to the ground.

Our final runner of the day is THE FRIDAY MAN in the beginners chase. He’s been knocking on the door for a win over fences with 4 places in his 4 starts to date and we’re hoping that he will show another good account of himself here today with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.
