Galway day 2 and Perth

It’s the first of the big days at Galway as we have the Galway plate today and we send forward another group pf horses for Perth after a successful day. Amir Kabir couldn’t replicate Royal Eagle’s triumph in the opener yesterday but it was great to see him back up his win to bring home some black type by coming 2nd.

Our first runners today come in Perth where we have EVERYBREATHYOUTAKE and OLD TOWN GARDE in the handicap chase. Everybreathyoutake will be having his first start in over a year as he was off with an injury. He has been given plenty of time and will have first time cheekpieces here. He showed plenty of ability to win a chase on debut so hopefully he can regain his form, Sean Bowen takes the ride. Old Town Garde has been freshened up and has a first time tongue tie. Nick Scholfield has been booked to ride.

For the handicap hurdle we have BRITZKA who has had a little spin on the flat as of late but was last seen coming 2nd in Downpatrick over hurdles in June. That form should hold up well and he has a tongue tie and cheekpieces for the first time and Sean Bowen.

Our last runner at Perth for this meeting is SAY YOU SAY ME. She came 2nd on debut in Worcester where she ran very well but Sean Bowen lost his whip at a crucial point. With that experience under her belt we hope she can go forward and progress. Sean Bowen has been booked to ride.

Over in Galway we start with the maiden hurdle where we have COUNTRY QUEEN. This is a smart looking mare who progressed up through bumpers. She runs against the boys on her first time over hurdles so she receives a mares allowance and will be ridden by Jack Kennedy.

We received a call late yesterday so NOBLE BIRTH gets in which is great news. He won well the last day when scoring by 13 lengths in Perth. This will probably be a tougher event and Jack Kennedy is booked to ride. THE BIG LENSE hasn’t quite found his spark this season so we make the switch to hurdles where he is 15lbs better off and has Jody McGarvey in the saddle.

For the mares handicap hurdle we have three really nice fillies. SHESADREAM has turned into that as she brings good form into this. The tactics didn’t go her way the last day but she can put that behind her. Davy Russell has been booked to ride. HOPHORNBEAM has been a model student since joining our yard and continues to improve, she will be ridden by Jordan Gainford. RETURN TO BASE could be anything in this as she makes her handicap debut after being foot perfect in a Punchestown maiden hurdle back in May. Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.

For the big one today we have three runners, BATTLEOVERDOYEN, HURRICANE GEORGIE and ASH TREE MEADOW. Battleoverdoyen was a winner over course and distance last year and has been given two runs to help get over a nasty fall earlier in the season. He will be ridden by Davy Russell. Hurricane Georgie is quickly becoming a yard favourite as she is incredibly tough and genuine. She won the Midlands National the last day but has been put up 11lbs for that. She still has a nice weight here and Jack Kennedy has picked her to ride. Ash Tree Meadow is another one quickly climbing the ranks as he steps up in trip here for his biggest assignment. He doesn’t have the same experience as some of the others and this will be his first big field. He has a good mark and Sean Flanagan has been booked to ride.

THE LAST MARDI goes in the Qualified Riders maiden over 1m4f. He brings a bit of bumper form into this having won his last two bumper starts. It is a bit of a drop back in trip but we have booked Harry Swan who claims 7lbs.

Finally our last runner of the day is DUFFLE COAT. He looks to be a better hurdler than he is on the flat. He hasn’t run since January so may be in need of this and we have Sam Ewing in the saddle claiming 3lbs.
