It’s is Irish Grand National day and it looks like the weather has played ball with us so far.

In the first race we have just KALEOSUN as Pacini ran yesterday. Kaleosun didn’t go the Cheltenham so comes here relatively fresh. It is a massive field and one where he can get a bit of cover. The cheekpieces are back on and Jack Kennedy is booked to ride.

NDAAWI ran a cracker in Cheltenham to finish 3rd off a high weight. He goes off level weights today for the Grade 2 juvenile hurdle which will be a quick turn around from Cheltenham but we have Jack Kennedy in the saddle and it should be an exciting race.

For the handicap hurdle we have WESTERN FOLD and SLANAGAIBHGOLEIR. Slan has been running well and was a winner on his penultimate start over hurdles. He has a nice weight in this and Mark Walsh is booked to ride. Western Fold ran well in Cheltenham for a long way before pulling up. This should be an easier task than that and Jack Kennedy rides.

In the Grade 2 hurdle we have just MAXXUM as Beacon Edge is now a non-runner. Maxxum will now be ridden by Sam Ewing as Jordan has been stood down following a fall. This will be a big ask but he didn’t run in Cheltenham due to the ground and could run better than expected here.

The wonderful FIL DOR is our only runner in the Grade 2 chase. He gets a bit of weight from some of the other horses and on ratings should be well in the mix.

Next is the big one, the Grand national! FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU is towards the heavier end of the weights so we will be claiming off him with Danny Gilligan taking away 5lbs. DIOL KER will have to run a career best here to feature and will be ridden by Kieran Buckley. DUNBOYNE hasn’t been finishing out his races lately but he loves it here and will probably be ridden more patiently and has cheek pieces fitted for the first time with Sam Ewing booked to ride. FRONTAL ASSAULT came close here in 2022 and Carl Millar will be on the crest of a wave having had a winner yesterday. He wears the lucky blue hat silk. WHERE IT ALL BEGAN has a wonderful weight here and ran very well in Cheltenham we have booked Jack to ride. COOL SURVIVOR is a very good horse on the day and will like the conditions with a jockey change set to come into play.

CAVALRY MASTER is our only representative in the handicap chase. He can be hit and miss but we will claim off him here to try give him every chance at the weights. Danny rides and claims 5.

Lastly in the bumper we have PATTER MERCHANT who was a winner of a bumper the last time we saw him. He is a big raw horse and hopefully the ground hasn’t got too tacky for him. This looks a really competitive race and we have Harry Swan in the saddle claiming 5.

Over in Cork we have LOUGH OWEL he was a bit disappointing on his last run and we will be claiming off him with Jake Coen and this looks an open race.

For the mares point to point bumper we have OCEAN BREW. It was great to see her win her point after unseating previously. This looks a nice opportunity for her and Josh Halford is in the saddle claiming 7.
