Down Royal Runners

Today we head up north to Down Royal with 11 runners:

We begin proceedings with 3 runners in the first race the 3 year old hurdle. THE INSIDER is one of a few winners lining up in the field. He was very impressive at Killarney on his debut run for the stable, he has to shoulder the winners penalty of 6lbs extra, but has been in excellent form at home and is the mount of Davy Russell. CALICO appeared to learn plenty on her debut effort in Ballinrobe 18 days ago and stayed on to good effect in the final few furlongs, there is every chance there will be more to come from her today but she does have 11 lenghts to make up with Surac who reopposes here again today. SHETLAND TONY was unfortunate to get tight for room before the second flight of hurdles, stumbling and unseating his jockey on which was his debut run at Killarney 7 days ago, he was none the worse for that incident and hopefully we can see how effective he is today, Jack Kennedy takes the mount.

COME ON DU BERLAIS has been a model of consistency for her owners the Sunday Racing Club. She was runner up on her first start over hurdles, defeated by a much more experienced rival on softer then ideal ground, she will be much more sharper over her obstacles today and there is no doubt she should be on the premises again. She runs in the mares maiden hurdle and Jack Kennedy rides.

We have two lining up in the 2m 4f maiden hurdle which goes to post at 6.25pm. FINNTHEMAGICIAN makes his debut over hurdles, he made it third time lucky in good style in bumper company in Perth when last seen. He should relish this step up in trip and she be a force to be reckoned with turning his attention over obstacles. INNELLAN SHORE finished midfield on his first run over hurdles at Tramore 12 days ago and really shaped like a step up in trip should be to his liking. He is the mount of Sam Ewing for Pioneer Racing who have had a fantastic start to the season with their contingent.

We have three runners in the Linden Foods Hurdle over 3m. SALVADOR ZIGGY has been ultra-consistent and landed a hat trick of wins on his most recent start at the Galway Festival. He has plenty of weight to carry but steps up to this 3m trip for the first time, he has been an extremely progressive type and hopefully there is still more to come. He is the mount of Jack Kennedy. EVERYBREATHYOUTAKE overcame a lengthy absence to finish 4th in a Handicap Chase at Perth in July reverting back over hurdles today. He is a 3-time winner over hurdles and was third in this race a few years ago and hopefully he can show a good account of himself. DUFFLE COAT started off this season in the Corinthian challenge race in the Curragh before heading to Galway for another flat race, He is back over hurdles today. He is a grade 2 winner as a juvenile and with first time blinkers fitted today, there is every chance they may help him rekindle his form, Davy Russell is in the saddle.

WHAT AN OCEAN takes her chance in the Kerry Foods Handicap Hurdle, making her handicap debut. She has run well in defeat on plenty of occasions and this 3m trip today should really be to her liking. We are hoping she might be able to get her head in front today in the capable hands of Jack Kennedy.

GINNETS GIRL has gone from strength to strength with each run this season and we are hopeful she can build on her success at Sligo 9 days ago. She has to carry a winners penalty but has Harry Swan claiming a valuable 7lbs off her back for the local partnership of Joe and Danny Byrne.
