Yesterday was a magical start to the weekend and we hope our star can continue to rise!
WODHOOH goes in the 3yo hurdle as she is currently unbeaten. She was foot perfect the last day but comes up against her toughest rivals yet. She is well versed and Jack Kennedy is booked to ride.
In the maiden hurdle over 2m we have BRENNUS LESCRIBAA, DOWN MEMORY and TIMMY TUESDAY. Brennus Lescribaa is having his first start of the season and he can hopefully improve from last year with Sam Ewing booked to ride. Down Memory Lane is unbeaten so far and is also returning from a break, He will be ridden by Derek O’Connor. Finally is Timmy Tuesday who returns from a long break. He looked a talented but quirky horse but has the trusty hands of Jack Kennedy in the saddle.
For the handicap hurdle we have another strong field with PARTY CENTRAL, MAGIC TRICKS and BESTALINE. Party Central’s plans of late have been halted due to ground conditions but today could be hers with quickening ground and Danny Gilligan claiming 5. Magic Tricks has been in good form and we claim 7 off him with Carl Millar. Bestaline needs to show a bit more than her last run but she is bottom weight and will be ridden by Jack Kennedy.
It’s the feature race of the weekend, the Champion chase where we have two diamonds in the shape of GERRI COLOMBE and CONFLATED. It was a graduation year for Gerri Colombe last season and he has already been touted as a Gold Cup horse, Jack Kennedy rides. Conflated ran very well in last year’s Gold Cup and Sam made a good partnership with him. He has race fitness on his side and could prove hard to beat.
It’s a tiny field in the Grade 2 Chase as ASH TREE MEADOW faces two others, much less than in the Galway Plate. Ash Tree Meadow has been freshened up and will be a formidable opponent with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.
For the handicap chase we have just REDDYS ISLAND who is right at the bottom of the weights and will have to put in a big performance here with Sam Ewing in the saddle.
Finally in the bumper we have CLEATUS POOLAW and PAY THE TAB. Cleatus comes from the pointing field and he looks a smart one. He will be ridden by Harry Sean who claims 5lbs, Pay the tab switches to bumpers after a run over hurdles. He is ridden by Finn Brickley who will claim 7lbs.
Over in Gowran Park we start things off with HARMONYA MAKER in the mares beginners chase. This looks a hot hot race where we’re returning from a summer break. Chasing always looked this girl’s game and we have Jordan Gainford booked to ride.
INNELLAN SHORE pulled up the last day and could struggle here off level weights in this beginners chase, he will probably find more favour in handicaps.
COQOLINO returns from a lay off in the handicap chase. We hope he can put in a nice round of jumping and get around safely with Jody McGarvey booked to ride.
NATHAN WELLS goes forward for DIV I of the maiden hurdle on what is his first start. He is a nice horse at home and hopefully he can display that on the track with Jordan booked to ride.
In DIV II we are reduced to just WESTERN FOLD. He was unlucky to unseat the last day and has put in some good form figures. Jordan rides.
NO TIME TO WAIT gets the sheets taken off him for the first time this season in a maiden hurdle. He was a smart horse last season and should go from strength to strength with age. Another one for Jordan.
Finally in the handicap hurdle we have WHAT AN OCEAN. If she can run to her form she has a chance of finishing in the frame with Jordan booked to ride.
