All our lorries head North bound today as we take the covers off some of our stable stars this weekend and have one runner on the flat to spice things up in between.
In the opening race we have THE YELLOW CLAY as Wingmen is now a non-runner. The Yellow Clay was a very good bumper horse last season and has the scope to go onto better things over obstacles. He is a Bective home bred so every success is an extra bonus with Sam Ewing booked to ride while Jack is suspended.
Kelly’s Birr and Speculatrix are also non-runners
We have two runners in what looks to be the most anticipated race of the day, the Grade 3 Bottlgreen hurdle where we have BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD and KING OF KINGSFIELD. Brighterdaysahead was a superstar last season and she really could be anything as she takes on the boys again. She doesn’t get much in the way of weight off the others and Sam Ewing has been booked to ride. King of Kingsfield has bundles of pace and the ground will be ideal for him and we hope he is a Grade 1 horse in the making with Danny Gilligan booked to ride.
We have two runners in the handicap chase in the shape of CALICO and SOMEONE’S WISH. Calico is top weight in this so we claim off her with Carl Millar taking away 7lbs. Someone’s Wish looks well treated here and won on his penultimate start. Sam Ewing takes the ride.
We have an exciting trio of runners in the Beginners Chase where we have FIREFOX, BIG STAGE and GRINGO D’AUBRELLE all going for gold. Firefox is a yard favourite and a beautiful looking horse who had solid Grade 1 form last season and will be the mount of Sam Ewing. Gringo D’aubrelle looked to be a special horse on the way up before meeting with a set back. He has a big layoff to over come but he has been going well at home and will have Jordan Gainford in the saddle. Big Stage didn’t set the world alight over hurdles but looks made for chasing as these Walk in the Parks so often are. He was a winner first time out in his p2p and will have Danny Gilligan in the saddle.
Finally in the bumper we have JACOB’S LADDER as Kalypso’chance is a non-runner. Jacon’s ladder is a good looking horse who has had two starts in p2ps and could be a really nice one for the future with Harry Swan booked to ride taking off 3lbs.
Over to Dundalk our only flat runner of the evening is PERFECT CURVES in Div I of the 1m handicap. This filly has been close on one or two occasions and can hopefully find her way into another place here with Leigh Roche in the saddle.
