Cork Saturday

Today we send five runners to Cork for their first meeting of the year.

Our juveniles have all turned 4 and graduate out of the bracket. GORDONS AURA goes in the opening maiden hurdle over 2 miles which will prove to be testing on the ground conditions. He has only had two starts for us to date and showed a marked improvement the last day to finish 8th in a competitive race. This should be a bit weaker so hopefully we can see more improvement with Jack Kennedy booked to ride.

The rated novices hurdle is a small field with a few starting to become exposed. CALDWELL DIAMOND is the best of the rated horses here but was a bit disappointing the last day in Novice company. He looks to have the measure of a few of them here but the JP horse looks unexposed but we have Jack Kennedy in our corner.

Another maiden hurdle follows where THUNDER DOWN UNDER aims to shed his tag. He has fallen in the handicap and it would be nice to see this horse run a good race as he looked very promising before a long lay off. He is in good form and Jack Kennedy takes the ride.

For the first handicap hurdle of the card we have RODANICHE wo was a faller early in the pertemps qualifier in Leopardstown but is none the worse for it. His mark remains in tack from that and should be competitive in this with Jack Kennedy in the saddle.

Finally in the bumper we have DOUBLE DATING who is having her first run on the track and is the first runner for new venture Apex Racing. She is a beautifully bred daughter of Doyen out of a Presenting mare and will have plenty to do in this. She should come on for the run but looks like a horse with a bright future, Jamie Codd has been booked to ride.
